Join us for a week of fun as we explore what it takes to keep the minds and bodies of both the Zoo’s animals and visitors happy. Take part in animal enrichment activities, learn how the animals are trained at the Zoo, how this messaging can be shared with Zoo visitors, and take part in the Discovery Theater Animal Shows. You’ll go home with an understanding not only of how the staff enriches the lives of the Zoo’s animals but how you can better train and enrich the lives of your own pets!

Restrictions:

• Participants must submit a current(within three months of camp date) and certified negative TB test two weeks prior to camp. Please download and complete this form.
• Participants must wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes that can get dirty and wet. Shoes must have closed toes and heels must be covered.
• Due to the nature of the program camp is limited to 15 participants.

Load up the kids and the tent and get ready for a camping trip like you've never experienced. Join the fun and participate in some specially designed activities, meet some animal friends, take a nighttime tour and roast hot dogs and s'mores! Then camp under the stars, wake up to the wild sounds of the Zoo and enjoy a continental breakfast. Family Zoosnooz is an overnight program offered for families with children ages 5 and up.

Geology Festival - Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon National Park 

Bryce Canyon National Park will be celebrating its most stunning resource, the geology. Known for its colorful and oddly shaped hoodoos (rock spires), the area was established as a national park in 1928. Each year over a million visitors from all over the world come to the park to marvel at its beautiful scenery and delicate formations, unique on planet earth.

The Geology Festival will offer daily ranger-guided walks and talks in the canyon and on the rim, children’s activities on geology, guided bus tours through the park and illustrated programs.

Featured speakers include:

• Wayne Ranney is a geologic interpreter and author, has served as a backcountry ranger in the Grand Canyon and has traveled over the world as a renowned speaker. He is an adjunct faculty member at Yavapai College in Sedona and has authored Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau and Carving Grand Canyon and Sedona Through Time.
• Dave Gillette has an endowed chair position at the Museum of Northern Arizona and is the former Utah State Paleontologist. He is responsible for some of the most significant paleontological discoveries in the Grand Staircase.

Annie Get Your Gun

“Annie Get Your Gun” is the story of sharpshooter Annie Oakley, who joins Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and falls head over heels for dashing shooting ace Frank Butler, who headlines the show. SCERA will produce the 1999 Broadway revival version, which of course still includes Irving Berlin’s amazing score, featuring fun songs like “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Doing What Comes Naturally,” “You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun,” and “I Got The Sun in the Mornin’.”

Wasatch Wellness Run

The 5th Annual Wasatch Wellness Run (formerly Race for Recovery) 10k, 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk is bound to be a fantastic event again this year. Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week is just one of the reasons to bring the entire family and join us for this exciting event. ALL proceeds will directly benefit members of Wasatch Mental Health. You won't want to miss this event. Whether you're a competitive runner or not, the Wasatch Wellness Run is for everyone!

The race will have several divisions with awards given to the top finishers in each.  $100 - Overall 10k Winners.  $50 - Overall 5k Winners.

Our famous breakfast will be available will be served right after the race for a small fee. Race shirts (depending on availabilty) will also be for sale at the venue. All proceeds for this event will go directly into the building of a new Wasatch House.

Community Yard Sale

Hello ALL,

I have talked with a few people that are trying to de-junk their houses this summer and would be interested in having a yard sale for all their items that they are trying to get rid of. have about 5 big Items that I am not having any luck selling on KSL, but might do better in a yard sale, also a bunch of little things too. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a community yard sale on one Sat. in August?

Pemberly does this every year. they just pick a day, and set up their stuff along the main road outside of the complex, each person is responsible for sitting with and selling their own stuff, but with so many different families out selling their stuff it makes it a great place for 'yard-sale-gurus' to shop. they always have a good turnout.

If there are at least 10 or so people that are interested in doing this, I would be happy to organize it and advertise for it so we could get a lot of people there to buy things.

You don't have to have a TON of stuff to sell, just a little bit, that's what makes doing it with other people so much easier, that way it can be advertised as a HUGE COMPLEX SALE, which attracts crowds, but we each will only have a small amount of stuff individually to be responsible for.

The date I am looking at is Aug.14th, a Saturday. it would be from about 8a to 12:00pm. The best yard sale shoppers like to get out early in the morning. If anyone wants to go ahead and do this with me let me know ASAP so I can start advertising and promoting it.
