Roads reopen July 7th
Although there are many special places to see in the United States, few offer a spectacular view similar to Cedar Breaks. Come visit a park that offers you the chance to stand above 10,000 feet on a cliff edge surrounded by lush forests and flower-covered meadows looking into a desert amphitheater 2,500 feet deep, covered with incredible, multi-colored hoodoos.
From now until mid-May, visit spectacular Cedar Breaks National Monument in winter by snowmobile, cross country skis or snowshoes. Stop by our Yurt which serves as a winter ranger station on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the winter. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, learn about the park from warm and friendly park rangers and volunteer staff, and experience the amazing solitude and supreme winter landscape. Note that winter season opening and closing, as well as Yurt staffing dates may be slightly earlier or later and are subject to favorable weather conditions.

On May 10, 1869, two railroad companies, Union Pacific and Central Pacific, joined 1,776 miles of rail at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory and forged the destiny of a nation. Golden Spike National Historic Site shares the stories of the people and settings that define the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad.

Rivers divide the park into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. These areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, but each offers different opportunities for sightseeing and adventure.

At National Bridges National Monument, three majestic natural bridges invite you to ponder the power of water in a landscape usually defined by its absence. View them from an overlook, or hit the trails and experience their grandeur from below. Declared a National Monument in 1908, the bridges are named "Kachina," "Owachomo" and "Sipapu" in honor of the Native Americans that once made this area their home.

Tour Timpanogos Cave & explore an underground world that would naturally go unseen. Get a taste for the thrill of caving as you twist and bend around formations to enter decorated rooms. Learn the science behind formations and colors once thought of as mysterious. Leave some room for discovery too- not everything about caves is completely understood.
Cave tour tickets frequently sell out, especially on weekends and holidays. Tour tickets may be purchased up to 30 days in advance with a major credit card by calling the visitor center at 801-756-5238. A non-refundable .50 transaction fee is added to each ticket sold in advance over the phone.

Located in south-central Utah in the heart of red rock country, Capitol Reef National Park is a hidden treasure filled with cliffs, canyons, domes and bridges in the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic monocline (a wrinkle on the earth) extending almost 100 miles.
The park and campgrounds are open year round.
Ripple Rock Nature Center is open on limited days from Memorial Day through Labor Day, check the visitor center for details.

Bryce Canyon, famous for its worldly unique geology, consists of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters carved from the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. The erosional force of frost-wedging and the dissolving power of rainwater have shaped the colorful limestone rock of the Claron Formation into bizarre shapes, including slot canyons, windows, fins, and spires called "hoodoos".

You can buy an ANNUAL PASS to all 397 of the national park sites for $80.
The pass expires on the last day of the month in which you bought it. So...if you were to buy that pass, say...on May 1st 2012, it wouldn't expire until May 31st, 2013. You would actually have access to all 397 park service sites for THIRTEEN months, rather than the twelve months. Two people can sign the pass (and they often ask for picture ID), but as long as one of you is in the vehicle or in your group as you stop at the entrance station/front desk, everyone in your car gets in free!
The pass will get you in for free. If you want to do a special activity in that park, like go on a cave tour or something of that nature, you may have to buy a ticket/pay for that certain activity--depends on each individual park and what they offer.
That annual pass will get you into other federal/non-NPS sites such as...American Fork Canyon (managed by the Forest Service) and Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas (managed by the BLM)...ALL YEAR LONG!

The library will participate in the In-N-Out Burger "Cover to Cover Club" Reading Program for children ages 4 to 12. Children who are too young to read may participate by having books read to them by their parent or guardian.
Register at the Front Desk to receive a reading log and check out books at their reading level.
The "Cover to Cover Club" achievement award is good for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at any In-N-Out Burger. Children may receive up to three award certificates, while supplies last.

Behind the Rio Grande Building at 300 S. 500 W.
Guided by a professional Storyteller, you will travel by bus to the great "haunts" of the City and learn about the ghosts who dwell in the historic buildings and cemeteries. Tours last approximately 1.5- 2 hours.

Come and see as we celebrate the Halloween season with live owls, a scavenger hunt, and enchanted rock puppets on two evenings of magical fun! Watch potions demonstrations, listen to tales of mythical creatures, and meet famous wizards and witches. It will be possible to buy “galleons” (spending money) at $1 each for the wizard marketplace with charmed candy at Honeyduke's Candy Shop, the Magic Stone Store and more.
All are invited to dress in costume for the occasion. The Museum will be closed between 3:00pm to 5:00pm in preparation for the event.
