Thimbles & Threads Classes

My friend, Jenny Adair, has just opened a sewing school. She is a wonderful seamstress. She made the dresses for my bridesmaids as well as my "leaving the reception dress" which I absolutely loved!!

So if you are interested in learning how to sew, please check out her blog, thimblesandthreadss.blogspot.com for the dates and time of the following:

  • Open Sewing Time, use her machines and space.
  • "Mommy and Me" classes
  • Sewing Camps
  • Foundations Classes for kids and adults, a chance to learn the basics.
  • Alteration Classes
  • There are many project classes to take too!
I'm so excited for Jenny, and I know that this will be success for her. I know that anyone who learn from her will have loads of fun and walk away with new skills they can use for a lifetime!

Quiet Activity Book Project

Have you ever wanted to make one of those cute little quiet books?
Well, here is your chance.

Brittany Slesk has organized for us the opportunity to complete a book, one page at a time.

  • I believe this is the pattern. Check out what one lady did with it here.
  • She will get all the supplies and everyone who wants to participate will split the cost.
The first page is the Eye Spy/Matching Page
  • There are 40 fabrics to choose from, but bring some scraps to use some of your own too
  • Bring your sewing machine. If not, DON'T worry there's lots to help with!!
  • Most of the fabric is cut to size, so most of the evening will be spent assembling the page
  • Hopefully, it won't take more than an hour.
  • Treats will be served
It's a lot of work, but could be a keepsake for your family, and it's so much more fun to work on a project with others.

Sewing Night

Thursday June 24
7:00 pm
Gateway Village building A # 2 bottom floor

Bring your sewing machine and unfinished projects OR
work on girly baby tights

Materials needed:
18 inch square of 4-way stretch jersey knit (not ribbed or interlock) fabric
sewing machine needle that will work with stretch (Schmetz Stretch needles)
3/4 inch knitted elastic about 20 inches long

Read the tutorial and print out your pattern before coming. I will have the tutorial up on my laptop so I can refer to it as a I try and make these little tights. I can also make a pattern for you if you need it.

OK, If you want to bring a treat to share, that would be fun, I will try and have a little treat too, if we sew sans treats. . .it will still be really really really fun.
