The King's English
1511 S. 1500 E. Salt Lake
A party for the official release of Elana Johnson's book, Possession:
Here's what Elana has to say about the King's English:
Isn't that the cutest little house you've ever seen? Well, it is. And inside the house are all these books in all these different little rooms. My favorite is the children's room, of course.
I love the people at The King's English because when I ask them for a book recommendation, they know what to get me. And they know where it is in their store. They know everything.
I love The King's English.
It's so exciting!!

Organic Beef for Sale
This news comes from Mandi Taylor:
Just wanted to let you know that we butchered our cow yesterday (maybe some of you didn't know that we had a cow, now you do :). Since our little family can not eat an entire cow by ourselves we are selling off half of it. Here are the specifics:
This little cow was pasture raised on alfalfa and hay, he roamed 40 acres his entire 2 year life. He has not been treated with growth hormone, antibiotics, or other medications, nor has he been fed grain/protein infused corn feed. His meat is 100% organic and extremely lean. Also, grocery store beef does not have Omega 3 fatty acid (the good kind) but our dear pasture raised cow does have Omega 3 fatty acids, and less Omega 6 (the more dangerous kind) in his beef.
The beef will taste more like beef than grocery store beef (imagine that), it has more flavor, and is a bit nuttier. some people say that it has a slight alfalfa taste, to me it just taste about the same, but stronger and leaner. The taste is not for everyone, but most people end up preferring it over CAFO beef from the local grocery store.
I priced out what local beef like this usually cost and I found it is about $8.00/lbs for a combo of steak, roast, and hamburger (see Bell Organic Farms for one example)
We are not trying to make a profit, just get rid of some of it: right now we are looking at selling off half a cow in increments of 1/8, 1/4, or maybe even 1/16 ths. this would give you a combo of steak, roast, and yes . . . hamburger. the cost (we think) will be about $3.00/lbs. it may end up being slightly more or less.
I'm just trying to see if anyone is interested, if you are will you let me know how much you would be interested in purchasing? 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16th. I will get back to you with exact pricing, and a delivery date.
seriously, no pressure, we just think it is great to eat organically, and wanted to let you know that we've got organic beef available at a good price. It will be prewrapped and already in a deep freeze so you just need to put it in your freezer.
It should be ready next week.
If you are interested, contact Mandi at mandilee82@gmail.com

Talley's Folly and Randy King
Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award for Best Play, the romantic comedy Talley’s Folly shows one evening in the courtship of two unlikely lovers, Sally Talley and Matt Friedman. Sally is from a conservative, small-town, wealthy family of bigoted Protestants, and Matt is a Jewish accountant twelve years older than Sally. The story of how they become brave enough to reveal their most painful secrets touched audiences and critics, and the play’s Broadway run was a great success. This is one you won’t want to miss!
Written by Lanford Wilson, and directed by Randy King, a member of our community.
