How does the program work?

• Participating dentists "buy" back kids' Halloween candy at a scheduled event
• "Buy" with cash, coupons, toothbrushes, creative exchanges - They can partner with local businesses to give away coupons for food, services, goods, etc.  They can give away the Hygiene Kits, they can set up an Opportunity Prize--each kid gets a ticket per pound of candy for an opportunity drawing to win special prizes, etc.
• Dentists send the candy to Operation Gratitude or other Military support groups
• Operation Gratitude sends the candy  to U.S. Military deployed in harm's way

Auditioners age 17 and older should come prepared to sing 16 bars of a Broadway showtune (preferably belt or mix). Dance auditions will be held for those invited to callbacks. All roles are available and there are a wide variety of ages and diversity in the cast.  We are looking for strong ethnic as well as caucasian actors/singers/dancers.  No appointment is necessary to audition.  SCERA will provide CD or IPOD playback or a piano is available if you bring your own accompanist.  Robert Smithson's famous earthwork Spiral Jetty (April 1970) is located in the north arm on the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

Visiting Spiral Jetty is a new experience each time, in every phase of its submersion and re-emergence. The wind alters the intensity of the water’s changing colors, as does the quality of the light and the density of the overhead cloud-cover. As you start to walk the spiral, you enter a kaleidoscope of moaning wind, relentless light, and mercurial water colors.

Using black basalt rocks and earth from the site, the artist created a coil 1500 feet long and 15 feet wide that stretches out counterclockwise into the translucent red water.

Walking the length of the jetty is not difficult. The surface is rocky and uneven, but not hard to walk on. It merely requires your attention. It is a good idea to wear shoes that you can wade in.

The lake level varies several feet from year-to-year and from season to season, so the Spiral Jetty is not always visible above the water line. Typically, the Great Salt Lake is at its lowest levels in October and November of each year. Visit the USGS web page to get the current elevation of the Great Salt Lake.To view the jetty lake elevation should be no higher that 4,197 feet.

How would the “wizarding world” look at the Hutchings Museum?

Come and see as we celebrate the Halloween season with live owls, a scavenger hunt, and enchanted rock puppets on two evenings of magical fun! Watch potions demonstrations, listen to tales of mythical creatures, and meet famous wizards and witches. It will be possible to buy “galleons” (spending money) at $1 each for the wizard marketplace with charmed candy at Honeyduke's Candy Shop, the Magic Stone Store and more.

All are invited to dress in costume for the occasion. The Museum will be closed between 3:00pm to 5:00pm in preparation for the event.
