Lifehouse Performing Arts Academy will present their annual fireside production "Be Thou an Example of the Believers" on February 26th, 2011. The show shares an uplifting message of faith and hope through music, dance and video presentations. One hundred and fifty dancers from the ages of 5-18 will participate. This year the show will also feature pianist Stephanie Lee, violinist Tim McClure and vocalist Layna Haymond.

Felt Family Service Project

The Felt Family is asking family, friends, neighbors and strangers to them out help out with their Family Service Project.

We need donations. We will pick them up throughout the month, or you can bring them to us, and we will be delivering the items to the Road Home for Family Home Evening on February 28th.

What to do?  Iris' family's make-do attitude saves the day, as they refuse to let troubles get in the way of a having “a great day after all.”

The Covey Center is thrilled to present the art work of nationally acclaimed artist J. Kirk Richards. Richards' exhibition, located in the Eccles Gallery of the Covey, features 15 original oil paintings, as well as a series of plaster sculptures. Richards said the sculptures and figure paintings “are about the dichotomy that exists in all of us between our spiritual and physical nature.”

Richards' work is mostly found in private collections across the country. Select local public collections include the LDS Church's Museum of History and Art, in Salt Lake; the Springville Art Museum; and the Orem Library.

Richard's exhibit is being presented in conjunction with the Lyric Opera ensemble performance of Madame Butterfly.

Recently, his wife passed away due to a tragic occurrence with cancer. Josh put his education on hold to care for her and his two children. Josh needs our help because he is working hard to finish his degree, care for his two children, and pay off medical and tuition bills.

The 5K will raise money to assist the Bean Family with in paying for those, and provide an opportunity for individuals in the community to volunteer and help a peer in need while improving their own health.

When he was sixteen years old, Larry Miller came home one summer night to find all his possessions sitting in three bags on the porch of his darkened house. The door was locked. From those troubled and humble beginnings rose a man whose influence has touched the lives of many in Utah as well as myriads of people worldwide.

Seven months before Miller passed away, he began working with Doug Robinson on this biography. Written in first person, the book talks about the many facets of Larry's life and legacy and speaks candidly about the people and experiences that influenced him. It doesn't just tell Larry Miller's story, it shares lessons, painful as well as joyful, which he learned from his experiences.

Thanksgiving Point’s 2nd annual Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run

Thanksgiving Point’s 2nd annual Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run benefits the recently announced Museum of Natural Curiosity.  The new museum will offer spaces for families to explore the world through play in a fun and educational environment. Five exhibit areas will cover topics ranging from science and art to the environment and world cultures.

Kicks off at Water Tower Plaza and leads runners through the Thanksgiving Point Gardens at the height of the annual Tulip Festival, the Thanksgiving Point golf course, and several miles along the scenic Jordan River Parkway Trail.

The Cougarettes of Brigham Young University have long been associated with the pageantry and tradition of BYU intercollegiate athletics. First established in 1946, the Cougarettes boast an alumni of thousands, who have helped to make the Cougarettes what they are today. In the year 2000, they joined forces with the cheer squad, promoting spirit and dancing during home games.

The Cougarettes are categorized as a precision dance team, but in fact the scope and breadth of their focus is deeper and much more varied. The Cougarettes are fluid in jazz, funk, lyrical, character, high kick, and military. Dancers are required to have knowledge and practical abilities in ballet, modern, and jazz technique. They must also maintain their growth and progression in each of these areas while they are members of the Cougarette performing team.

Auditioners should be prepared to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song and must bring a headshot or some kind of photo. Those invited to callbacks on Saturday, Feb. 26th will take part in a dance audition.
All roles are open and include:  Leads including Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Grace, Miss Hannigan, Rooster, Lilly and FDR; an ensemble of 10 men and 10 women who will also be used for supporting roles; and 10 orphan girls.  No appointment is necessary to audition.  An accompanist, boom box or IPOD playback will be available.

“Annie” will play April 22-May 14 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30pm at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem.

Rehearsals will take place during Spring Break, and attendance is mandatory.  If you are going to be out of town, we respectfully ask that you do not audition.
