What did downtown Salt Lake City and San Francisco look like during the Great Depression? From train stations to early Ford autos to the VW Beetle, SMA's Trains, Trucks and Automobiles offers unique and impressive artistic perspectives on invention, innovation and the cultural reliance on automotive machines and technology from 1929-2010. The exhibition features pieces from the Museum's permanent collection of Utah art by some of Utah's most beloved artists, including Minerva Teichert, Waldo Midgley, LeConte Stewart, Richard Van Wagoner, and Bruce Hixson Smith. The exhibition is showing in two of the Upper Level galleries.
The Museum's permanent collection, also on display, holds some of the earliest art produced in the state of Utah along with one of the greatest public displays of 20th Century Soviet Socialist Realist art outside of Russia.
