Utah Valley Marathon

2011 Utah Valley Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Come run this June marathon in the beauty of Utah Valley. Cascading waterfalls, Provo River, and Utah Lake will offer a tranquil running adventure. The majestic mountains in all directions offer an extraordinary running experience. The course offers ease for beginners and a potential PR for experts as one of the fastest spring marathons. It starts in beautiful Wasatch County and ends near downtown Provo. Marathon runners will be in close proximity to many national parks, and the race is only 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. Marathon participants who are Boston Marathon qualifiers receive rewards.

When he stopped by the Museum to shoot a few Dinos he made a mistake and hit cranky Utah Raptor with one of his largest arrows. On this silly Valentines hunt see if you can find how many dinosaurs were smooched by our love struck Raptor. Make a chocolate kiss Valentine for your Valentine and have a Happy Valentines Day!

Enjoy the incredible Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, fresh from their international tour. This Utah-based contemporary dance group performs to critical acclaim, both here and around the world: The Dance Insider proclaimed, “Judging from the involvement of the Paris audience - in a rare occurrence, they didn't wait until the end of the show but responded with rhythmic clapping even at the intermission curtain - French audiences want more of this.” The Covey Center is pleased to host this rare Utah County performance.

This is a sweet and simple love story as well as a historical novel that tells of the experience of the Japanese interment in America during World War II. It is set in Seattle and the story beings in 1986 with the discovery of relics stored in the basement of the Panama Hotel by American citizens of Japanese heritage. These treasures lead Henry Lee, a Chinese American whose best childhood friend was Japanese, to reminisce about that time in flashbacks to the 1940s.

Audition for a Brand New Symphony Orchestra!

All right, all you musically gifted community members! Here's your chance to pull out your instrument and join in on some symphonic fun. A brand new symphony orchestra, under the direction of John Pew, is being formed right here in our area and they are looking for musicians to audition to be part of the group. The Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra promises to be a dynamic group and John Pew seems just fantastic. He conducted a similar group, the Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra in Oakland California, and attracted amazing soloists like Jenny Oaks Baker. From my conversations with him, he sounds eager to bring great music to Northern Utah County and I think he will be a charismatic, fun, and sensitive conductor.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, January 27th, Saturday, January 29th, and Thursday, February 3rd. It sounds like other arrangements can also be made if you can't make one of those days. They will be held at the Highland Community Center, 5378 West 10400 North, Highland, Utah.
