The Kiwanis 5k will be hosted by Gardner Village and is to be an annual event focused on raising money to fund Kiwanis Club of Midvale/Ft Union programs, which serves families and children in Midvale City and the surrounding communities

Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by April 1, 2010 with check payable to “Kiwanis of Midvale/Ft. Union”.

In addition to the main race, we will also have a children’s race within the Village.

Lou Gehrig’s Disease Fundraiser - A portion of all proceeds will go to research a cure for this fatal disease.

The race will be awesome. Beautiful scenery, going through Zion's National Park, and will have easy, intermediate, and advanced legs, so all skill levels can be accommodated. The teams will consist of 5 or 10 riders (your preference), and there will be stations along the way. Those of you who are familiar with Ragnar, it's the same idea, only on bikes. It's going to be a lot of fun!

The Planetarium is located in room 465 on the 4th floor of the Eyring Science Center on BYU Campus in Provo, Utah.

Please note
  1. There is no food or drink allowed in the planetarium.
  2. Because it gets very dark in the planetarium the shows may not be appropriate for some young children. Please keep in mind that it is difficult to leave once the show has begun.
Group Reservations
Reservations for regularly scheduled Friday night shows are not accepted. To schedule a show at another visit the planetarium home page. The Astronomical Society does not schedule outreach shows.

Mount Mahogany Storytelling

The Storytelling Festival is right around the corner, March 1st.

If your child is interested, please have him/her learn a story. Stories should be 3-7 minutes in length, and do not have to be memorized, but it is recommended.

The judges are looking for choice of story, expression and confidence. Here is a copy of the evaluation sheet, if you want to know how the children will be assessed.

March 1 - Class Festival
Stories will be presented in class. Two winners of each class will be chosen to move on.

March 2 - Grade Festival
Winners of each class will compete in their grade festival. Two winners of each grade will move on to the School Festival.

March 3 - The School Festival.

African-American Children's Fair

This event will provide African-American children an opportunity to learn more about their heritage and culture. Parents are also given an occasion to network and exchange ideas and resources. There will be booths, games, activities as well as light refreshments. The event is free.

World of the Wild Art Show

The Zoo will be holding its 17th annual art exhibit January 29 - March 14, 2010. The 2010 poster as well as most of the art work in the show is for sale. So if you want to see some amazing, wild art and possible puchase some original art work, plan on visiting the show before it's over.

This exhibit was started to provide Utah artists an opportunity to display their works of wildlife and "wildnature" in a setting complementary to their work. This show has grown to be one of the best venues in Utah for viewing wildlife and nature art.

Maxed Out Puppetry will be delighting kids of all ages with their "Fairy Tail" puppets shows in the EdZOOcation Station at 10 and 11:30 am. After the show see some of our smaller animals up-close and personal. A fun craft will also be part of the fun. Children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite “fairy tail” costumes.
