February Newsletter

Feb 1 - Helping Haiti
There have been several requests from students for a way to help the victims of Haiti, so the Student Council would like to take up a collection of $1 from each student, to be placed in the jug in the offie. If every child participates, $980 will be collected and donated to the Red Cross for their efforts to feed and clothe the children in Haiti. The collection will end on Thursday, Feb. 4th.

Feb 2 - End Online Scheduling for Parent Teaching Conferences
To schedule online you will need your child's student ID number

Feb 2 - 6th grade science fair

Feb 5 - No school (Professional Development Day)

Feb 9 - Parent Teacher Conference

Feb 10 - Parent Teacher Conference

Feb 15 - No school (President's Day)

Feb 22 - "Net Smart" Assembly

Feb 23 - Registration for Kindergarten
9:30 to 10:30 in the auditorium (located on the north side of the school).
This registration is for children who will be five on or before September 1, 2010, and live within Mt. Mahogany school boundaries. Children do not need to come with you.
A birth certificate and record of immunizations are required to complete registration.

You may need to provided extra documentation, if you are:
1) Not a birth or adoptive parent
provide court documentation of legal guardianship
2) Not married to the child's other biological parent
provide court documentation of legal guardianship

Feb 26 - Second Semester ends

Kindergarten Events


Feb 4 - 100th Day Celebration Party

Feb 10 - Book Orders due

Feb 12 - Show & Tell: Valentine Exchange
There are 30 students in each class. Simply have your child sign his/her name on each Valentine. The children will be making Valentine holders in class.

Feb 19 - Show & Tell : Something red, white, and/or blue.

Feb 26th - Show & Tell: TELL one way you can be a good friend.

Statesmen Literature Discussions


Just a reminder about the Statesmen Literature Discussions that will start again on January 28th at 7:30 pm.

We will be discussing "The Crisis" by Thomas Paine. There are several entries included in The Crisis. We will be focusing on the first on that begins..."These are the times that try mens souls..." You can find it at http://www.ushistory.org/PAINE/crisis/c-01.htm.

Scrapbook Weekends

The PG Community Center will host a Scrapbook Weekend in January, March and July.

January 29 & 30 - Slumber Party
Outrageous Outfit Contest - prizes for the most creative outfit and Group Theme.

Time:
Two days - Friday 4:00 pm to Saturday 9:00 pm
Friday - 4:00 pm to 9:00 am
Saturday - 9:00 am to 9:00pm

Place: PG Community Center - Gym: 547 Locust Ave

Cost:
Early registration
Both days - $20 (includes dinner @ 6pm and brunch @ 10 am)
One Day - $12 (Friday includes dinner, Saturday includes brunch)

No discounts if you do not plan to eat the food provided. No dinner will be served on Saturday.

- Have 5 friends register and get your pre-registration free!

- Register by the early registration date and have your name entered in a drawing for The Ultimate Scrapbook Basket.

-Late night snack - $1 "hot" homemade cookies, milk and nachos

Jan. 18th Human Rights Day - No School
Jan. 29th Spelling Bee (Grades 4-6)

Upcoming Parent Teacher Conference on Feb 9th and 10th.
An on-line schedule system will be used to schedule an appointment time. More details to come.

Inclement Weather School Closure
A decision will be made by 6:00 am. A Closure will be broadcast by way of local radio/television stations.
